Oldbury is located within the area known as The Black Country because of its long association with coal, iron and steel but the West Midlands town is perhaps best known as opening the first ever branch of Lloyds Bank in 1864. Financial and professional services are a key sector in the economy but it’s also home to automotive design specialists Futura Design, part of Futura Group, which relocated to Oldbury in 2011, and DPDGroup, the parcel delivery company whose headquarters are in the town. It’s an attractive location because it offers good access to the road network, particularly the M5, making it easy to get to other parts of the country – from Manchester and Liverpool to the north to Bristol and Oxford in the south.
